Programs

2016 marks the beginning of an exciting new after school program called COOL, CALM AND COLLECTED ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š This program has been developed especially for (approx) 7-10 year olds as we focus on developing skills in relaxation, coping, mindfulness and emotional intelligence. My hope for Cool, Calm and Collected is that it fills a void in an area where children don't typically have any formal teaching, but in many cases could really, really benefit from having some. I will soon be taking bookings for Term 1 in Wynyard, Tasmania, so do keep your eyes out for more updates!

If you are in Australia and have a child under the age of 7 with a diagnosed autism spectrum disorder (ASD) you know what Helping Children With Autism (HCWA) funding is.  For those of you who don't the Department of Social Services (DSS - they used to be known as FaHCSIA) fund an early intervention program for children with an ASD. This package offers each child services worth a max of $12,000 per year until they turn 7, as long as they are approved services by a registered provider. Pretty good package hey! I'm thrilled to be able to offer music therapy as a HCWA registered service provider for your children in 2016!! I have a limited number of availabilities but with the nature of the funding coming to an end at age 7 it is definitely worth being on a waiting list. Please don't hesitate to contact me to find out more.

My Life My Music is music therapy program developed specifically as a palliative approach to dementia care.

Usually when we consider palliative care we think of those in the very final stage of their life, those needing specialised, around-the-clock care. Not often do we focus on those with a terminal condition who may be many, many years from death.

Dementia is a prime example of this. A terminal condition with complicated health care requirements, often combined with other issues related to old age, yet those living with this syndrome have very limited access to specialised palliative care services.

If you are a Registered Music Therapist and would like to run My Life My Music OR if you work in a care setting for those living with dementia and would like to establish My Life My Music at your facility please contact Alli to receive your FREE EBOOK and find out more.

Making Music, Making Fun is a music group for children aged 0-4 and their caregiver/s. Designed by a Registered Music Therapist this program has been running on Tassie's NW Coast since 2009 with much success and popularity.

New borns and babies in the group have the opportunity to participate passively in their new-born kind of way (ie. Lots of neurological development as they take in the environment and all it's stimulation) while the older children have the opportunity to play appropriately with little ones as well as showing them and helping them - a lovely mix of ages!

Making Music, Making Fun sessions involve hello and goodbye songs, nursery rhymes and action songs, instrument playing, puppet playing, story telling, dancing, relaxation and coping techniques and musical games.

Children involved in sessions have the opportunity to work on important early developmental skills including:

* positive interaction with others (children and adults)
* prolonged focus on task
* increased verbal and non-verbal expression
* increased confidence
* language development
* building friendships
* development of musical skills
* fine and gross motor coordination
* emotional outlet
* development of rhythm
* ability to share and take turns
* increased levels of eye contact
* fun and enjoyment
